Thank you

A big thank you to all those who came along to our community shop at 34 New Wellington Street, Blackburn and released balloons in honour of Poppy Mai.  We had a break of around 10 minutes before the rain arrived!

As a personal sign of respect, Personalising Freedom CIC (Rummage Rescuers’s parent company) Chief Executive Liz Crook will be releasing night lanterns this evening.

Our best wishes to Poppy Mai and her family.

A reminder for our members regarding Poppy Mai….

Calling all white van men!

We desperately need a white van man to volunteer their services with our collections and delivery service.
We will pay 30p per mile and this role may lead to a paid post in the near future.
Please get in touch via our Facebook group if you’re interested in getting involved.

Thank you.

Rummage Rescuers are delighted to support ‘The Free Project CIC’

Rummage Rescuers are delighted to have been able to support a fellow Community Interest Company (CIC) in the Blackburn with Darwen area.  The Free Project CIC carries out extremely valuable work with homeless people and those living in temporary or inadequate within the Blackburn with Darwen area and is staffed extensively by volunteers.  Rummage Rescuers have donated a massive £200, including furniture from our community shop, to The Free Project.

You can find out more about The Free Project, by visiting their Facebook page or by visiting their website.

Rummage Rescuers are pleased to support ‘Amazing Grace’

Rummage Rescuers would like to introduce you to “Grace,” or “Amazing Grace” as she is known on Facebook and to her friends.  Some of our members may have read in the paper or heard on the news that Grace is a six year old local girl with Cerebral Palsy.  She is unable to walk and her only means of movement are to shuffle around the floor.  Unfortunately she cannot even have the use of a wheelchair in her house and does not have any independence at all.

After a four year battle with the council, her parents have now managed to obtain some assistance from them for funding to build an extension on their house.  This means they will now have to raise £7,000, instead of the full £37,000.

Thanks to recent events, including a Charity Cricket match involving Cherry Tree Cricket Club v Blackburn Royal Mail, Pace for Grace (a sponsored six km walk from Blackburn to Pleasington, with £5 entry fee and donations along the way from numerous shops), a very successful Ladies Night (held at Longshaw Club in October) and then a Christmas Fayre.

The remaining donations have all been via Grace’s ‘Go Fund Me’ page, Grace’s Aunt Jenny tells us they’re only half way off the magic number, with around £3,500 left to raise.  Jenny also said: “Just want to say a big thankyou to everyone at Rummage Rescuers for your lovely donation of £250 towards Graces fund.”

You can also keep track of Grace’s progress via her ‘Amazing Grace’ Facebook page.

Mill Hill Refit update

As we were so keen to kick off the major refit for our community shop at 34 New Wellington Street, the shop has closed early and the builders are now in!

But don’t worry, because we anticipate that the shop will reopen on Monday 7 March.

In the mean time our Town Centre community shop at 5c Town Hall Street will be fully open and our Facebook sales will continue without interruption.

Thank you for your patience.
