Established in 2015, Rummage Rescuers was created to address the clothing needs of the Blackburn & Darwen community. Our first shop was located within the bustling & thriving community of Mill Hill, and since then we have expanded to a further store in Blackburn Town centre, venturing out to selling clothing, shoes, accessories and small household items – all donated by the local community & organisations.
As time passed, we found the need to add a warehouse which specialised in larger bulk items of donated furniture. Our warehouse is open to the public and offers a collection and delivery service. Our latest project has allowed our customers to purchase online for the first time.
Our volunteers are encouraged and supported in their steps to employment through further training opportunities, allowing them to obtain new skillsets.
Pounds pending is a community support scheme that is aimed to help those in a crisis situation, for instance, homeless people, domestic violence victims and many others. The public is able to donate money which can be used to provide essential items to those in need.
We can provide the following items from our shops to those in crisis:
If you’re in need, please visit one of our community shops and ask for goods via Pound Pending. We would like to say a massive thank you to all the kind donators that keep this amazing scheme going and help other members of the community that are in need.
We want to help as many people as we can. We regularly run fundraising campaigns & events to raise money for good causes and projects that will benefit our community. The majority of our funding comes from our amazing customers and regular donators, however, we also work with local businesses within Blackburn & Darwen, receiving generous cash and item donations to help our cause. We are very grateful for the National Lottery who have funded several of our projects, allowing us to help hundreds of people over the years.
We would like to thank all supporters of the Rummage Rescuers cause – your time, donations and money really do go a long way!
We are a nation of throwing away. Millions of reusable clothes, shoes & household items are sent to landfill every year. At Rummage Rescuers, we want to help combat this issue by giving all our items of stock a second chance, passing them on to somebody who can have further use.
Our community shops, warehouse and online shop are full of items waiting to be rescued. Check them out!
We received a £10,000 grant from CFLM to purchase PPE and redistribute to charities, non-profit organisations & volunteer services. We recognised the need for PPE within the third & volunteer sector and worked to ensure that everyone has the ability to work safely.
If you need PPE, contact us on firstname.lastname@example.org
We wanted to show our appreciation for our Care Home workers, so we put together some hampers and asked our community for their nominations.
Congratulations to our Care home winners of the yummy hampers !! Keep up the great work.
We worked to transform a combination of brand new & fully washed donated pillow cases into essential uniform bags for our front line key workers. There are many nurses & careworkers now using their free uniform washbags – they are available to anyone who needs one. A huge thankyou to all the ladies that helped with this one!
